Call for Papers for Two new Sections!

New Content ItemBMC Public Health has launched two new Sections:

Social determinants of health

- Mental health

Both Sections are now open for submissions.

In addition to these two new Sections, we have also revised the scope for Health behavior, health promotion and society

Social determinants of health

Led by Dr. David Rehkopf.

This section aims to publish the latest research related to the social determinants of health, including, but not limited to, the influences and interactions of personal characteristics (sex, age, ethnicity, disability and hereditary factors), social and community networks (family and wider social circles), living and working conditions (work, housing, education), and general socioeconomic, cultural and environmental conditions (taxation, availability of work) on public health and wellbeing.

Mental health

Led by Dr. Noriko Cable.

This section aims to publish the latest research in the field of mental health, through a public health lens. Broadly speaking, we will publish research that enables us to protect and promote good mental health and wellbeing, whilst aiming to prevent mental illness.

We welcome research that will transform our collective understanding of mental health, from the individual to the community level, and across all sectors. This includes studies that employ an epidemiological approach to examine stress, anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicide.

To inform policy and initiatives, we also strongly encourage submissions that address growing areas of concern, from technology and social media and its impacts on bullying and self-image, to issues of loneliness and isolation.

Revised Scope:

Health behavior, health promotion and society

Led by Associate Professor Frances Kay Lambkin

This section aims to publish studies examining the cultural, economic and societal influences that inform lifestyle choices and health behaviors, from drug, alcohol and cigarette consumption, to perceptions of safe sexual behavior and vaccine uptake, enabling all communities to increase control over their health, and empower them to maintain, attain, or regain good health and prevent disease.
